Get the job definition right
Decide whether you need a repair diagnosis or a replacement proposal. Those are different jobs and should produce different evidence.

Ask every bidder
- 1What test or measurement supports the diagnosis?
- 2If replacing equipment, how was the proposed size determined?
- 3What electrical, drain, thermostat, duct, or permit work is included?
- 4Which parts and labor warranties apply, and what maintenance keeps them valid?
- 5What could change the quoted total after work starts?
